Speaker Series: Liz McLaurin

The Land Trust for Tennessee is a Nashville-based nonprofit organization that protects 126,000 acres of land in our beautiful state. Their projects include both public and private land and encompass forests, farms, parks and historic sites.

For this month's Speaker Series, we welcome Liz McLaurin, President & CEO of the Land Trust. She'll discuss the organization's history, future and unique impact on the state of Tennessee.

Community Party with The North Face

Rock/Creek has just been named the Outdoor Retailer of the Year by The North Face, and we want to celebrate!

This award wouldn't have been possible without the dedicated outdoor community and the amazing nonprofit partners that protect our lands. That's why we want to invite everyone to join us for a pint night and fundraiser with The North Face on June 6th!

Eagle Creek + Uncle Dan's Trailer Tour

Uncle Dan's in Evanston, 11am - 3pm

We’ll be hosting auditions in partnership with G Adventures to send one lucky person on an epic, life-changing voyage and we want to hear from you, in person, about why you need our help to get you packed up and on the next plane to paradise!

The Quit Your Job Trailer will be packed with all kinds of surprises and giveaways. Come enjoy family-friendly games and competitions—and you just might walk away with some FREE gear!

Rock/Creek Saturday Morning Paddling

Every Saturday, Rock/Creek Rentals is offering guided paddling trips on the Tennessee River or at Chester Frost Park. There's nothing like spending a few hours on the water before launching into the rest of your weekend!

We'll provide your kayak or SUP, paddle, PFD and professional instruction to ensure that you have a safe and fun experience on the water.

Cost: $45/person

Age: 14 and up

Please reserve at least 24 hours in advance

Intro to Flatwater Kayaking

This course will teach the basics of flatwater kayaking, to help new paddlers feel comfortable and confident on the water.

Intro to Flatwater Kayaking is held on the calm waters of Chester Frost Lake, and all equipment is provided.

Courses are taught by Samantha Christen, an ACA certified instructor who's helped train all of our rental staff and many others. Not only will you learn a lot at this course, it will also be FUN!

Ages 14 and up. Please make reservations at least 24 hours in advance.

Uncle Dan's Park Ridge Wine Walk

Sip your favorite glass of vino this fall and join us for the Park Ridge Wine Walk Wine Tasting in Uptown Park Ridge! Attendees will visit each participating business in Uptown Park Ridge and sample a one-ounce pour of white or red wine while perusing the shops and boutiques along the route. Each attendee will also receive a passport to visit each participating business in Uptown Park Ridge. When a completed passport is turned in, you will receive a raffle ticket to win several prizes (hundreds of dollars of gift certificates donated by participating Chamber member businesses. Uncle Dan's will have coupons and discounts for walk participants)!

Women's Hike & Happy Hour

We're teaming up with Salomon to bring you a ladies-only evening of hiking and socializing!

We'll meet up for a casual hike on the Cochran Shoals Trail, and then return to the trailhead to enjoy beer, snacks and more. Hiking distance will be 3-5 miles.

You'll have the opportunity to win raffle prizes, try out Salomon footwear and meet other women who love the outdoors!

This event is free, all skill levels are welcome and hiking experience is not needed.

Earth Day Festival

Celebrate Earth Day at the Park Ridge Park District! This Earth Day event is a community celebration. Join us for fun activities, create recycled crafts, discover inventive creations at the Re-purposed Project Fair, dance to live music, discover live birds of prey and creatures big and small in the animal show, shop at eco-friendly vendor booths, learn from "green" organizations, give Smokey the Bear a high five, and rope-climb up a tree. Uncle Dan’s will have a booth with alternatives to single use plastics for sale, kids activities and hammock relax station and a raffle.

Toad&Co Sustainability Road Tour

Toad&Co is on a nationwide road trip to promote sustainability and eco-friendly practices in the apparel industry, and they'll be in Chattanooga on March 22nd! Stop by our Northshore location for beer, food, music, local vendors and more. This event coincides with Packet Pickup for the Rock/Creek River Gorge Race, so it will be twice the party!

River Gorge Race - 10.2 Mile

The Rock/Creek River Gorge 10.2 Mile Trail Race, Presented By The North Face is a Southeastern classic that runs the Mullens Cove Loop in the Prentice-Cooper Wildlife Management Area just outside Chattanooga, Tennessee. The highly technical single-track loop trail boasts magnificent bluff views of the Tennessee River, as well as cascading streams lined with rhododendron and towering hemlock. One of the most beautiful trails in the Chattanooga area, this is a bucket list race for both the leisure and competitive trail runner.

Get Outside - Leave No Trace Training

The One Earth film festival was a hit in Park Ridge and as a follow-up to the Youth Unstoppable documentary film (trailer here), we had have a 1-hour Leave No Trace training event for about 20 youth ages 12-18 with giveaways, pizza, and competitive activities for prizes.
