Uncle Dan’s has put together a fairly extensive trip list for those who will be spending time in the backcountry. Please choose items according to the type of trip you will be taking.

Camping Items

• Backpack
• Sleeping bag w/ stuff sack

• Tent with footprint, stuff sack
• H2O proof pack liner or cover
• Stuff sacks, various sizes, waterproof for wet weather, over-water trips
• Cookset, mess kit, utensils, insulated mug Food and storage bag/canister
• Stove and fuel Fire starter/lighter/matches
• Water purifier or Iodine tablets
• Knife or multi-tool
• Water bottles/Hydration Unit
• Duct tape
• Gear repair kit
• First Aid kit
• Flashlight, headlamp/mini-lantern

• Socks (merino wool)

• Water shoes or sandals (River/boating trips)
• Insoles Moleskin/Second Skin
• Base layer top and bottom (wicking/midweight Merino or synthetic)
• T-shirt (synthetic or Merino)
• Mid-layer expedition weight tops and bottoms (100 weight fleece or 260-320+wool)
• Top Layer—heavyweight fleece or wool top
• Windshirt—windproof shirt, jacket, fleece Rain jacket w/hood: waterproof
• Undergarments -
      Women: sports bras & underwear
     Men: boxers or briefs Synthetic or merino (cotton briefs for women are okay)
• Pants (synthetic) Zip off feature is nice
• Waterproof rain pants can serve as windproof pant
• Hat with brim
• Bandanas
• Gloves: liners and fleece/wool heavier weight
• Overmitts for snowy conditions
• Hat for warmth fleece/wool should cover ears
• Sunscreen/block

• Sunglasses, Glasses or contacts (bring backup pair of Glasses)
